The Parents and  Volunteers

There are everyday events and obstacles that must be done in-order to keep our lives moving.
There are plenty of issues that one must attend to during the day along with youth soccer, some  are more challenging than others, but all seem to play a significant role for our selves and those that count on us.

For some people there is just never enough time in the average day, but they some how, through dedication, a positive attitude and caring find time for just a little more.

They are always willing to put forth that extra nudge that keeps the others going and that strive to add just something beyond, enough.

These  are the people that are seldom given the credit for all that they contribute, never asking for anything in return.

If at times we seem as though we are to busy, or that a nice deed was not noticed, please understand that we do appreciate all the work and all those things that you do in helping to make the Manatee Area Youth Soccer Organization something great, and that is YOU.

In return for all your help, we the Staff  on behalf of the Kids at  M.A.Y.S.O.  would like to give a very special  THANK YOU for all your help, and most of all, the support that you lend to your teams and their players. No matter how small or great, we know you care.

Manatee area youth soccer

Mom, she works all week getting things done and seeing to those never remembered by others, but seemingly always forgot items that need to get done.

While the kids are at school she has just a short gap in time to get from work to home, preparing for another one of those on the go afternoons. The school bells ring and the buses run.

Mom quickly greets them at the door, organizing their change of cloths, as she asks “Are we ready for soccer practice, don’t forget your bag and grab all your gear?”

Mom is ready “All aboard” she commands, “get your seat belts on and off we go”. This should be simple she thinks, the ride is only a few minutes away and a quick snack can be had along the route.

But then,  just as she approaches the soccer fields, and ready for a  short break, with the anticipation that the kids will soon become the temporary property of their coach for a short while, though in site across the field but far enough that the sounds of quiet, can set in for what may be the first time all day.

And then just as she turns the last corner, with those soccer fields in site she hears  the small voice in the back seat that asks “Mom did you grab my jersey from the wash?”

With a smile in her voice she glances back, and only a few words of response “you are kidding right”…

Sound familiar

Here is a small list that you may find helpful .

• Tie a bright colored piece of rope on the handle of their duff bag. Sound silly but has proven that kids will associate the reminder to check their gear when the grab the soccer bag
• Put together a list of all the things they should have with them and place It on the car seat, sometimes a laminated list taped to an old book will do the trick
• Seat belts are a great tool for remembering things that need to go with you, place a ribbon or button on the seat belt so that it is hard to not see when they buckle up

Gear up, have a safe and memorable summer/fall experience. Don’t forget to take pictures. As you’ll want proof  for those later years in life, when they conveniently want to forget all those wonderful days that you made happen.

Moms, Please leave any ideas tips and thoughts you would like to share. I will update the comments a couple times a week.

What happens when a team pulls together

Tradition in sports can sometimes get complicated and other times things are just the way they are. But when the game is called soccer for this father and son, tradition, values and team work share a close meaning. If you are serious about the sport of soccer and have players that value the game, well It just goes like this.

“We always lost to the team that went on to win it, so we were always the second-best team,” Nate Perry said. “When we got here, the freshmen that came with me were all from that team, and we were very successful. It was a real good group. We grew up together, playing since we were 9 years old.”

Take the time as a coach and work with your kids and teach them how fun and sports work together. While teamwork can inspires the winners, fun inspires participation.

Now we  know that the average 9 year old might not pull off some of these tricks, but then again you have to set some goals in life. Who knows this may just inspire some of the parents out there. Have some fun and motivate your team with a goal.
